Day Two Topic Canada and the World
Canada's health care system gets high marks compared to the rest of the world. But are there things we can learn from other countries? On Nov. 28, Health Care Commissioner Roy Romanow presented his prescription for health care reform. During the week before the release cbc.ca, CBC Radio and CBC Television examined the main issues: the changing nature of the system, Canada and the world, privatization, access, obstacles to change and who pays.

In 2001, total health expenditure was projected to reach $102.5 billion. In 1998 Canada spent 9.3 per cent of its GDP on health care. Only three OECD countries spent more.
