The magnetic pull of the scale

Your weight is a reflection of your nutrition and exercise habits and not necessarily just a product of “calories in” versus “calories out”. Your weight is a reflection of many complex factors above and beyond your food and activity habits such as genetics, family history, age, gender, body composition, sleep habits, hormones and stress levels.
Some of these factors we can change. Others are stubborn unchangeable parts we are stuck with.
Despite that many of us appear to be slaves to the scale, groaning when it says we're at the same weight we were a week ago, despite all that hard work in the gym or the restraint at the dinner table.
What's your barometer for a healthy weight?

At 70 I pretty much have my diet and exercise on target. My BMI & %BF both tell me that I am somewhat overweight. I check these and other parameters weekly. To stem the weight "creep" is very difficult for me, so to get it under control I occasionally have to get determined about it. That's when I weigh myself daily. It works for me. What's the matter with that?
Afew months ago I started an intense body workout that includes cardio, muscle toning and weight training. I lost very little weight but am literally down 3 pants sizes. I hate weigh scales for this reason. People get hung up on their weight and health bmi. I say get out the tape measure and look for progress that way instead. Also go by how you feel. Do you feel healthier? Do you look healthier? Chances are you are healthier!!!Just don't stop at that. Keep it up!!
