More details are emerging about a dramatic bank robbery that took place in Dundas on Monday morning.

Around 9:50 a.m. two men wearing balaclavas walked into the Bank of Nova Scotia on Osler Drive.

According to police, the suspects ordered everyone inside the bank to the ground. Armed with a handgun, one of the suspects jumped over the counter and demanded money from the tills.

The staff complied, and the thieves then fled the branch with plastic bags containing cash, jumping into a getaway car.

None of the victims were injured in the robbery.

Police recovered the vehicle, a dark Dodge Stratus, nearby and determined that it had been stolen.

The two bank robbers are described as white males wearing balaclavas.

The Hamilton Police Service's Break and Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery unit is still investigating the crime.

Corrections and Clarifications

  • In an earlier statement it sent out about the incident, the Hamilton Police Service said the two bankrobbers were black males. On Wednesday morning, the police sent out a correction, indicating the suspects were in fact white. March 6, 2013, 9:36 a.m.
