Police have charged a 44-year-old Hamilton woman in connection with two failed robberies.

On Tuesday, a woman walked into a sub shop near Fennell Avenue East and Upper Sherman and demanded cash from the till, claiming she had a weapon. The clerk refused to turn over any money, and then the suspect fled the scene.

Approximately one hour later, police received a call about another attempted robbery, this time at convenience store on Concession Street, just east of Upper Sherman. This time, a woman with a scarf over her face produced a knife and demanded money. In response, the clerk picked up a baseball bat and told the assailant to leave.

Police caught up with her near store and arrested her, later determining that she fit the description of the suspect in the earlier robbery attempt.
