Convenience store in Stoney Creek robbed

Police are searching for two men they say robbed a convenience store in Stoney Creek Saturday night.

Around 10 p.m., two men entered the Bright Side Variety store at 466 Highway 8 in Stoney Creek.

The store employee was in the middle of closing for the night when the men approached him and demanded money. One of the men was possibly armed with a handgun, police say.

The store employee handed the suspects a bag that was on the counter and then fled out the door away from them. The bag was a lunch bag, so no money was taken.

The suspects then ran out of the store and drove off in a black car. The employee was not injured.

Police are investigating. Both suspects are described as black, around five foot ten inches tall and with medium builds.
