ServiceOntario kiosks used to change addresses or review licence plate stickers will soon be a thing of the past.

The Canadian Press has learned that the governing Liberals are permanently pulling the plug on all 72 kiosks across the province. Three of those kiosks are located in Hamilton at Jackson Square, Lime Ridge Mall and Eastgate Square.

The kiosks were shut down in June after several securities violations that prompted the government to notify police.

A source says the decision was made to remove the kiosks after a thorough investigation into safety and security issues.

The source says no government information was compromised and customers can still access government services online.

The kiosks allowed access to 40 different services, including address changes and licence plate stickers.
