Hamilton Police are asking for help to find a 19-year-old Stoney Creek man who went missing last week.

Nitin Gupta, a second year life sciences student at McMaster, was last seen Friday afternoon around Queenston Road and Centennial Parkway.

His family told police this is unusual behavior for him.

Keertan Dave is an old friend of Gupta's from high school. He was the last person to see Gupta before he went missing.

Dave spotted Gupta at the A & W at East Gate Mall around 3:30 p.m. Friday. He was eating by himself.

Dave, who had not seen Gupta since they finished high school about two years ago, wanted to approach him but said Gupta turned away.

“He is a really smart kid,” said Dave. “He had a limited circle of friends.”

Dave has since started an online campaign to find Gupta. He's using the hashtag “#FindNitinGupta” on Twitter.

“I know personally his family is very concerned,” he said. “They would never expect this.”

Gupta is described as South Asian with short, black hair. He has brown eyes and wears glasses. Gupta is 5'8' and weighs about 160 lbs.
