1 man dead after car crash in Hamilton

Hamilton police are investigating a fatal crash that happened in the east end early Friday.

The single vehicle collision took place on Burlington Street East at Parkdale Avenue North around 2:30 a.m.

According to Hamilton EMS, the driver of the car was a 53-year-old Hamilton man who was travelling at a high rate of speed when he hit a pole.

He was taken to Hamilton General Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police are investigating. Eastbound traffic on Burlington Street had been blocked by police earlier in the morning but has since reopened.
