A Hamilton couple got a rude awakening early Thursday when a car drove into their home.
Around 2:30 a.m., police were called to a house at Sherman Avenue and Munn Street. The homeowner and his partner were sleeping when a loud sound woke them.
The two discovered a car had driven through the front of the house. No one was found inside the car, and it caused considerable structural damage to the house, police say.
Several neighbours in the area heard the crash and got out of bed. A man dressed in black was seen running down Munn Street, police say.
Police checked the area and found a 21-year-old man with a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment. The car was dislodged from the house and towed from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending further investigation, police say.
The couple wasn't injured.
