A home under renovation at Concession and East 38th Streets is "heavily damaged" after a fire Sunday night.
Hamilton Fire was called to the two-storey home after a neighbour saw flames coming from the roof, said spokesperson Dave Christopher.
Christopher said the home-owners, a young couple, were away visiting friends when the fire happened.
"Firefighters found a lot of fire inside the home," he said.
Christopher said the couple was "very upset" when they were called and notified of the damage.
Hamilton Fire has not yet determined a dollar loss for the damage.
The off ice of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in and an inspector is expected to visit the home today, said Christopher.
There were no injuries.
