Els and Simpson will play in Hamilton in Canadian Open

Officials at the Canadian Open announced today the names of some of the golfers who are expected to compete in the tournament in Hamilton this summer.

US Open Champion Webb Simpson joins Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Retief Goosen, Michael Thompson and Fredrik Jacobsen.

Canadians Mike Weir, Stephen Ames, Graham DeLaet and David Hearn will also play in the tournament set for July 26-29 at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

More names are expected to be announced over the next few weeks.

Two Canadian amateur golfers have qualified for the field including Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas. He earned a spot by winning the 2011 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.
