Lester
B. Pearson
During his five years in office Pearson oversaw the introduction
of the Canada Pension Plan, national Medicare, official
Bilingualism, the national anthem and the Maple Leaf flag.
In addition to his two-terms as Canada’s 14th prime
minister, Pearson also enjoyed a distinguished 20-year
career with the Department of External Affairs. The crowning
achievement was his acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize
for his introduction of a peacekeeping force during the
1956 Suez Crisis. |
