SUNDAY December 15

Host: Mary Wiens

0630 There's plenty going on in Ontario today...as our What's On columnist, Aparita Bhandari told us.
Listen audio (runs 4:07)

0730 Nelson Mandela was buried today in his South African hometown. His long battle against apartheid was inextricably linked with music. And World Music columnist Reuben Maan told us about some of the many musicians who supported Nelson Mandela's efforts through their lyrics.
You can view videos of the songs that Reuben talked about by going to his Music For Nelson Mandela posting on the CBC Music website.

0800 Christmas Eve is coming...and that means a trip down MANY chinmeys into MANY fireplaces for a jolly old elf. Heritage architecture columnist Shannon Kyles told us all about the evolution of the fireplace/chimney.
Listen audio (runs 8:18)
Shannon has created special sections on the
chimney
hearth and
fireplace on her Ontario Architecture website.

0830 Twelve under twelve. That's 12 good but affordable wines that each cost less than 12 dollars...courtesy of wine critic Irvin Wolkoff. And just in time for holiday entertaining.
Listen audio (runs 13:52)
You'll find the complete list of "12 under 12" wines (plus a Canadian "ringer") on Irvin's A Glass Of His Own website.
