If Bond villain Auric Goldfinger really wanted to get into Fort Knox, he should have opened a coffee shop.

It certainly got Tim Hortons Inc. past the fort's famous security, as the iconic Canadian coffee brewer announced Tuesday it has opened a restaurant inside the U.S. army facility in Kentucky.

"Tim Hortons is privileged to serve at Fort Knox, one of the world's most respected military bases,"David Clanachan, U.S. and international chief operations officer for Tim Hortons, said in a release.

The 24-hour restaurant will be the first on a U.S. military base for Tim Hortons, coming after the popular chain famously opened up a storefront in Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2006.

Tim Hortons also runs restaurants at seven Canadian Forces bases.

However, if Tim Hortons is looking for gold both they and Goldfinger got it wrong: the United States Bullion Depository is located on the base but it is a separate facility operated by the U.S. Treasury Department and independent of the U.S. Army.
