Khawaja family moves to Canada.
April 14, 1979
Mohammad Momin Khawaja
is born in the Ottawa area.
1988 - 1993
Momin and his
family live in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
January 1998
Momin graduates from high
school and goes on to Algonquin College to study computer
software development.
2000
Momin begins teaching kids
at the local mosque in Cumberland, Ontario. He teaches
the Koran reading and Islamic history. He also becomes
more religious and grows a beard.
April 2001
Momin graduates from Algonquin
College.
January 2002 - March 2002
Momin
goes to Pakistan. He spends three months there. He
stays with his uncle. He is looking for a wife.
He takes a computer course near and then returns to
Ottawa and finds a job.
Summer 2002
Momin begins working at the Department of Foreign
Affairs and International Trade.

Momin meets Younes Lasfar.
He and other friends begin playing paintball games
with Younes.

The same group of friends
begin visiting a shooting range once or twice a month
to shoot pellet guns. They sign in using fake names.
Later, Younes gives two rifles and ammunition to
Momin who registers them and stores them under his
bed.
Summer 2003
The period in which Internet communication between
Momin and Zeba Khan in Pakistan begins. Momin reads
her articles on the Internet and it sparks his interest.
October 2003
Momin goes to Pakistan again. Momin visits with
Zeba. He goes to her house for dinner with Mohammed
Junaid Babar.

October 29, 2003
Zeba posts an engagement
notice on the Internet. Momin has proposed, unofficially.
Later, they call off the engagement but remain friends.
November 10, 2003
According to the charges
filed against Momin Khawaja, it is at this point that
he begins helping the alleged terrorists in London, England.
February 2004
NSA (U.S. National Security Agency) officers at
Fort Meade, Maryland, intercept an email message between
Britain and Pakistan. The contents of the message are
significant enough that dozens of intelligence officials
are mobilized in Britain, Canada and the U.S.
Feb. 20, 2004
Momin goes to London.
He is picked up by Omar Khyam and another man. British
authorities follow the men to an Internet café.
Then Canadian authorities pick up the trail when
Momin comes back to Canada.
Around the same time, British intelligence pick up
a phone conversation allegedly between the London
suspects and Momin Khajawa.

March 29, 2004
Momin Khawaja is arrested.
Family is detained but let go. Police execute search
warrants. the next day British police officers launch
a series of raids across southeast England. They pick
up nine people.
April 2004
Mohammed Junaid Babar is taken into custody
by the FBI and charged with five counts of terrorism-related
charges. He cooperates with authorities.

1, 2004
Momin's father Mahboob is detained
in Saudi Arabia. He is held for two weeks in a hotel
and is questioned by two police officers.
April 14, 2004
Momin
is named as a co-conspirator in the alleged bomb plot.
June 3, 2004
Mohammed Junaid Babar pleads guilty in a
New York court. He tells the court he has ties to Al-Qaeda
and the UK group arrested after Momin.
February 2005
New bail hearing scheduled for Momin Khawaja
in Ottawa.
September 2005
Date of scheduled UK
trial.
Momin Khawaja is the first Canadian to be charged
under Canada's
anti-terrorism law.
He has two charges
against him. The first falls under Section 83.18 of
the Criminal Code and the second under Section 83.19.
