Whistleblowing in Canada

For those who feel compelled to call time on what they see as corporate, military or government wrongdoing, the decision is often weighed over time. In Canada, the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act  sets out procedural guidelines for public servants but provides little in the way of protection. The act does not cover employees of the RCMP or Canada’s spy agency, CSIS, a major failing according to FAIR, the Federal Accountability Initiative for Reform. FAIR maintains ongoing reports of Canadian whistleblowers and their dealings with government and government agencies. FAIR also provides resources and support for those who are considering going public with information on wrongdoing.
