Alber Elbaz took the house of Lanvin down a stricter path for Spring/Summer 2006. Powerful women dominated his runway, and they declared their supremacy with sleek lines and a touch of well-styled androgyny.

As Alber Elbaz’s well-received voluminous shapes of last season are appearing on other catwalks for fall, Elbaz himself is moving forward. His collection, which Sis his own words was all about “purification”, featured extraordinary coats and sophisticated dresses.

After falling in London and breaking his wrist, Lanvin’s designer Alber Elbaz found himself unable to sketch his collection. Describing his ideas through grand gestures translated into a collection full of volume and weightlessness. To Elbaz, the most important qualities of fashion are fantasy and dreams, and he liberated this idea leaving edges raw and using washed cottons, silk file, and Fortuny pleating.

Alber Elbaz is fast becoming a must have designer, and his third collection for Lanvin only served to strenghten this position. The fashion crowd was out to support Elbaz as he presented a collection he says is all about being chic, simple and natural.
Fall winter 2004 is sure to make his fans happy and bring him a wave of new ones.

A good indicator of a designer making a desirable product is to have top models angling to be in his show. Alber Elbaz is that designer this season, drawing supermodels Natalia Vodianova and family to the Lanvin front row and Linda Evangelista’s only appearance on the catwalk.

Albert Elbaz took classic beautiful clothes to new heights with his fall/winter collection for the house of Lanvin. Ribbons, Chantilly lace and exquisite fabrics, all of couture quality, made this a refined ladylike collection at the height of sophistication.

Alber Elbaz is one of fashion’s great conceptualists. He is also a master of illusion and both strings of his character come together brilliantly in his new collection for Lanvin. The focal point for the clothes was jewelry – inventively used as the framework for expressive designs. The idea of illusion seems something that Alber Elbaz’s apprenticeship with Geoffrey Beene would have prepared him for. The collection had a sophisticated rawness, though the pieces were finely worked and finished.

After bouncing around from house to house over the past few seasons, Alber Elbaz has landed at the house of Lanvin and the critics are ecstatic. Using his expert tailoring skills, he produced a polished, sophisticated collection, proving that he is has what it takes to head up a design house.
