Imitation of Christ has quickly become a favourite label on the NY scene because its designers, Matt Damhave and Tara Subkoff, go out of their way every season to subvert New York Fashion Week with their wacky shows. The fashion crowd gladly hauled its collective butt uptown to the venerable auction house Sotheby's to check out IOC's latest spectacle, but they were a little unsure about the label's future, thanks to the rumour that Matt and Tara's creative partnership had dissolved. Could this be the end for fashion's rebel pranksters?

Fashion's pranksters strike again. They've held shows in funeral homes and movie theaters. They've forced fashion editors to contribute to an anti-sweatshop charity before letting them in to see their show. They are Imitation of Christ and they're definitely not afraid of shaking things up. So what did Tara Subkoff and Matt Damhave, the label's young designers, get up to for Spring 2002?
