The Beard Debate Continues...
Today I was confronted by another person who told me I look better without facial hair--"you look younger and thinner without it". Truth is, if you ask most men with facial hair they will tell you once you go FH you never go back. I guess it is a bit of a security blanket for many men.
With Beard

Without Beard

I have been sporting my facial hair for over a decade. I began growing it as an aspiring thespian, studying theatre in my late teens, and then became so attached to it I couldn't dare part with it. A few years back I noticed more of my generation sporting this distinguished accessory. Today some of the fashion world's biggest players don some sort of facial hair. From Stefano Pilati, Tom Ford, Scott Sternberg to most recently Marc Jacobs sporting a furry number at the CFDA awards. Today's beards (unlike mine) are much less sculpted but seem to be somewhere between five o'clock shadow and Howard Hughes in his backyard shed. The feeling of boho has trickled into men's style and emulates the beatnik feel or Williamsburg culture that seems to be the "it" thing still. I on the other hand have a decade devoted to this number-I hold true that my beard is my greatest accessory.
