Soccer Style Notes
With star-studded players like David Beckham (gracing the cover of Vanity Fair) and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo strutting a unique sense of style both on and off the field, it was only a matter of time before fashion would blend in with the world-wide soccer craze.

With the Euros in full swing, top fashion marks go to the Italian National Team -better known as The Azzurri -for showing us just how sharp soccer players can look.

This is a team on top of their fashion game. On the field, they are decked out head to toe in Puma. Puma's been sponsoring the team since 2003. And every year, they turn out sleek jerseys and shorts in the traditional Savoy Blue colour. This year, Puma's also sponsoring four of the other teams in the Euros. And kudos goes to Puma for making even the Croatian uniform, which in the past has resembled a trattoria tablecloth look cool (just take a look at the fans in the below picture for proof).

But back to the boys in blue...Off the field, Dolce and Gabbana has fitted the team in custom-tailored dark blue suits, classic white shirts and solid narrow blue silk ties.

The team also collaborated with the Sicilian design duo for the 2006 World Cup for this classic and chic look.

And who can forget how Dolce and Gabbana turned up the heat summer 2006 with these popular underwear ads --which more than showcased several of Italian team members' valued assets

As the current reigning world champs (they won the World Cup in 2006) and with a dismal defeat in their opening game at the Euros, this team definitely has to step up their soccer game. But one thing's for sure, fashion faux pas are not part of their strategy.
