Northern Store closing

The Northern store in Wemindji will soon be officially be closing it's doors. The land and building lease they had with the community is over and not being renewed. Tawich Developement decided it was time to take their own community store to a different level. Mark Wadden is the President of Tawich.

Renard Diamond Mine clears hurdle

Mistissini and Stornoway Mining company have signed an Impacts and Benefits Agreement that bring the Renard Diamond Mine one step closer to reality. The Renard project is located 250 kilometres north of Mistissini and will be the first diamond mine in Quebec. Work is set to begin in 2013. Both sides say it will create jobs, training and business opportunities for local people. Betsy Longchap spoke with Mistissini's Chief Richard Shecapio.
