More than eleven thousand people are expected run the Calgary Marathon this Sunday. One of the ways they'll be training for the race is by fuelling up.
Kim Wagner Jones is a registered dietician who works in Sports Medicine at the University of Calgary. She's also an experienced marathon runner.

Minister Power

The federal government is overhauling Canada's employment insurance system. Under the new rules, Canadians who are deemed to be frequent EI collectors will face stricter restrictions.
Some people may even be forced to take a significant pay cut or find work outside their fields.
The changes also give Human Resources Minister Diane Finely the power to make new rules without parliamentary approval.
For more on the debate over the limits of ministerial power we reached Patrick Boyer, author of the book "Just Trust Us: The Erosion of Accountability in Canada". He's also a former Conservative MP.

Former cabinet minister Gene Zwozdesky won the post taking over from the long-serving Ken Kowalski. The Tory MLA for Edmonton-Mill Creek won the secret ballot against Liberal House Leader Laurie Blakeman.

Chinese Investments

China is ramping up its oil and gas production. The country is selling off more state-owned shale gas blocks to energy companies.
One major catch. Only Chinese companies are allowed to bid.
Since China is allowed to and does invest in the Alberta oilsands, this raises questions about whether we're getting a fair deal.
Edy Wong is the associate dean of the School of Business at the University of Alberta and is an expert on China-Canada trade relations.

Calcium Dangers

Two new publications in the journal, "Heart" are linking calcium supplements to heart attacks. The editorial and study authors say the supplements should be "taken with caution." Calcium pills are widely used, in particular among post-menopausal women who worry about bone deterioration.
