On the Edge national special
On the Edge is a show all about introducing you to people who push their limits for work or just pleasure. Host Paul Karchut
takes a crack at street luging, hang gliding, water ski jumping and bull riding. He also chats with world-renowned travel author Dervla
Murphy to find out about her approach to adventure and Vancouver-native William
Winram tells us about his unusual career - swimming with sharks for a
living. Perhaps On the Edge will inspire you to get a bit more adventurous, too!
The special airs on February 20th from 4-5pm across Canada on CBC radio one or listen to it here at your convenience...

The logging roads of Vancouver Island make a winding, dusty, poorly-marked maze for misinformed travellers to get swallowed up into. And for the final episode of our season, I'm picking my way through this network on the hunt for world class wind.

About Paul Karchut
Paul Karchut is a character well-known to Calgary listeners. He has been the Eyeopener's outdoor
and ski columnist for five seasons now. At 18-years-old, he set off on his bicycle for
a solo trip from Victoria to St. John's. His passion for the outdoors has just
continued to grow: travelling the world in his early twenties as a sponsored
extreme skier; riding into the far and secluded Canadian Arctic with not much
more than an offroad motorbike and a flyfishing rod for four months; and testing
his physical limit as an ultra marathon runner. Paul counts himself as one of those lucky people who
can combine his passions into a job
