About the team

Michael Arnault
DSCF1585.jpgMichael began his broadcasting career with CBC Edmonton when Blondie's smash hit "Call Me" was first released (can you guess the year?) The youngest of ten siblings, Michael made the move to Calgary in 2001 and has been part of the Eyeopener crew ever since. Michael has directed the morning show since 2007 which he continues to find very challenging, yet always enjoyable. Michael, his wife Claire and their son Stephane now proudly call Calgary their home and reside in beautiful Point Mckay. When not at work Michael enjoys cycling along the Bow River, dining out, shopping, traveling to Mexico and HGTV.

Paul Karchut was born and raised on Vancouver Island and started with the CBC in Vancouver in 2005. Paul shifted into the Eyeopener's Associate Producer-Technician role in 2007. During the show, he presses all the buttons and helps keeps things moving smoothly. After the show, he's in charge of the Eyeopener's web content and our "outdoor desk". During the winter, you'll hear Paul's Real Ski Report and in the summer, he introduces us to all kinds of adventurous outings with his Outdoor Report and national series, Extreme Canada. This is a great fit for Paul. Before his broadcasting training in Vancouver, Paul travelled the world as a sponsored extreme skier. His love for the outdoors and the CBC makes this Paul's dream job.
