Riding profile

riding map

This is the westernmost, and most rural, riding of the five in Quebec's Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, an area described by writer Will Ferguson as "the central circulatory system of the pure laine." The riding includes the municipalities of Roberval, Dolbeau-Mistassini, Saint-Félicien and others. Its boundaries changed slightly in 2011.

Political history

Despite strong Quebec nationalist sentiment, the seat has gone to the Liberals several times, most recently in 2003 by 202 votes. Liberal Leader Philippe Couillard will run in this riding this election.
