This riding is in Quebec's Mauricie region and includes much of the city of Shawinigan, former prime minister Jean Chrétien's home turf. It's one of the least populous ridings in the province, but covers a vast area stretching up to the remote northern riding of Ungava and to the Abitibi region. The district gained some territory in the 2011 boundary realignment.
