This largely residential riding in north Toronto runs from Steeles Avenue in the north to Highway 401 in the south. In the west it begins at Bathurst Street and stretches to Victoria Park Avenue in the east.
In the 1999 redistribution, the new riding of Willowdale consolidated 25 per cent of Oriole and 20 per cent of Wilson Heights with the bulk of the old Willowdale riding. In 2007, the riding incorporated a small section of the Don Valley East riding.
Population: 129,356 (2006 census; an increase of 19.3% since 2001)
Liberal David Zimmer, who has held the riding since 2003, prevailed in the 2011 election by beating Vince Agovino of the Progressive Conservatives.
Zimmer won by 5,608 votes over Progressive Conservative David Shiner, currently a Toronto councillor, in the 2007 election.
In 2003 Zimmer unseated PC incumbent David Young. Young took the redistributed Willowdale riding in 1999, defeating Liberal Fahimeh Mortazavi with 50 per cent of the vote.
When the old riding of Willowdale was created in 1987, Liberal Gino Matrundola defeated Tory Charles Harnick. Harnick won the electoral rematch in 1990 and was re-elected in 1995. He did not stand for re-election after the 1999 redistribution.
