The constituency was originally created in the 2003 redistribution, mainly because of the fast-growing population of the Sackville and Hammonds Plains areas.
The district consists largely of bedroom suburbs, trailer parks and strip mall developments. It also contains one of the most affluent areas in the province, known as Glen Arbour.
In 2012, the provincial electoral boundaries were redrawn and the new district of Hammonds Plains-Lucasville was created from portions of the former district of Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville and the districts of Timberlea-Prospect and Chester-St. Margaret's.
The district now includes the Upper Tantallon area north of Highway 103 and the Stillwater Lake area.
This district does not have an incumbent candidate due to the electoral boundary changes made in 2012. Hammonds Plains-Lucasville was created with 43 per cent of the former district of Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville, 10 per cent of the district of Timberlea-Prospect and 7 per cent of the district of Chester-St. Margaret's.
