Pilot Sound makes perfect landing for Mark About Town

An enthusiastic and hardy crew took in our final Mark About Town of the year in Pilot Sound, a collection of six neighbourhoods tucked in Edmonton's northeast corner. Each and every one -- Cy Becker, McConachie, Matt Berry, Hollick-Kenyon and others -- is named after a famous bush pilot with northern Alberta connections. We heard stories of their swashbuckling adventures, along with profiles of some of the area's leaders, teachers, students -- plus a family that is bonkers for Halloween. The Kisilevich's at 127 Hollick-Kenyon Way frighten and delight kids and families every year with their homemade creations -- an homage to Sleepy Hollow. We hear there will be REAL fire outside their home if you visit on Halloween night. While listening to all those stories, community residents stopped by our CBC tent at 167th Avenue and 50th Street all morning for free Second Cup coffee, free massages from nearby Qubo Salon Spa, and to huddle around our non-functioning heater. C'mon this is Edmonton -- we don't need no stinking heater! Congratulations to our prize draw winners: Donna Ballyntyne won a pair of tickets to see Stuart McLean and the Vinyl Cafe on December 7th; Marie Simon and Amber Giesbrecht won handcrafted Edmonton AM pottery mugs.

Stay tuned for more Mark About Town episodes in 2015. We could be coming to  your neighbourhood next.
