Facebook and your job

Could what you post on your facebook page, keep you from getting a job? Our tech columnist Dana DiTomaso weighs in on what could be an invasion of your privacy.

Dana has provided us with a guide of how to protect your priviacy settings on Facebook:

Log into Facebook and then go to your Privacy page:

https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=privacy

To choose who can find you on Facebook:

1. Click Edit Settings next to "How You Connect".

2. In the option for "Who can look up your timeline by name?", select Friends

3. In the option for "Who can look you up using the email address or

phone number you provided?", select Friends.

4. You may also wish to restrict the "Who can send you friend

requests?" and "Who can send you Facebook messages?" options.

To choose whether or not your Facebook page comes up in non-Facebook

search results, such as Google:

1. Click Edit Settings next to "Apps and Websites".

2. Click Edit Settings next to "Public Search".

3. If you don't want to show up in non-Facebook search results,

uncheck the "Enable public search" box.
