Amanda's Big Day
Sixteen-year-old Amanda, a competitive horse jumper and Bishop O'Byrne
honour student, seemed destined to win the Heartland Be A Star for
A Day Contest. "I love horses and I love the show," she said.
The cast and crew on the Heartland set treated Amanda like a member
of the family during her visit. She received an autographed group photo
of the cast members, and a Heartland sweater from the cast and crew
as mementoes of her special day.
Not only did Amanda meet and chat with the entire cast and crew of
Heartland, she had dinner with the stars, was given star costume, hair
and make-up treatment, as well as her own trailer for breaks on the
set at Calgary's Currie Barracks.
Amanda's parents were thrilled to be on the set as she was filmed
in her walk-on role in two scenes of the final episode of the family
show Heartland recently. "We're all so excited. This morning she
still couldn't believe she had won the contest, mom Celeste Gerber
said.
Amanda looked like a confident actress when the cameras started rolling
and later admitted, "I would love to look into doing more acting."
Everyone on the set agreed that her talent with horses and riding
would make her a great stunt double for a character on the hit family
show. "Get an agent," many cast and crew members told her.
Amanda never seemed nervous and even did several media interviews throughout
the day.
Watch for Amanda's episode airing early in the spring of 2008 and
catch Heartland every Sunday night at 7 p.m. on CBC. |
