Throughout our election-night coverage, we'll be highlighting* on the web and CBC Radio One your comments about the race, the candidates, your issues and our coverage.
We are asking three questions tonight:
1. How will the results shape up in your ward tonight?
2. What would surprise you about the results tonigth? and,
3. Do you think the results of Monday night's election mean for the future of Edmonton?

Comments
Is it not standard practice to cast ones vote by placing an 'X' in the box beside ones selected cadidate? If so, why do so many billboards and flyeres illustrate a box ticked with a checkmark rather than an X? Surely this is misleading inexperienced voters to spoil their ballot.

Julian: it's a graphical convention. Nobody wants to put an X by their name, as the connotation from another context implies a wrong answer. In our case, neither one applies anyway - I had to connect the two halves of an arrow!

Well, Julian, if you had voted today, you would know that you needed to complete the line to indicate your choice. In the last federal election, it didn't matter if you placed an X or checkmark or any other mark, so long as your choice was clear.

I'm quite surprised to see Nickel trailing in Ward 5 - what did he do wrong or is Iveson really that strong? I'm a former resident of 5 and am interested in what's going on in the old 'hood.

I'm so thrilled Iveson is leading. Ward 5 was not well-served by Mr. Nickel. I hope this shows Ward 5 is not the conservative bastian it's always assumed to be.

Close race in Ward six for the 2nd Councillor position. As of 9:08, Okelu is beating Sohi by 32 votes.

Iveson's strong, and his message has got out there, and he's been consistent - and quite frankly, he's the ONLY candidate who actually took the time and trouble to drop literature in my mail box, and his volunteers were out too (I'm in your old hood). Didn't see or hear a peep out of Nickel the whole campaign in my part of Ward 5 ... if that's the way he ran his campaign in the whole Ward, no surpise.

I too am thrilled that Iveson and Anderson are leading Ward 5. Finally, we may have some dedicated people willing to do more than spout hot air and look for sound bites.

Re: Doug Finch
Iveson reminds me of Mandel in his vision and his drive and I think a growing Edmonton requires someone that can look at the big picture. No one knows that better than Ward 5 right now and I don't think Nickel is up for the job. Council needs some fresh thinking (Mandel/Iveson) but that needs to be balanced with some experience (Anderson).
As for Mandel, I hope to see him step up to provincial politics!

thunder, I am frightened that Tony will will in ward 3. Forgetting that people are selfish, i was hoping for a government who can help those who cant help themselves, not the ones who can by whatever they want. woe, what next edmonton?

WOW - tight race in Ward 6! I personally think Amarjeet Sohi would do a great job.
Either way, some new faces on Council - excellent!

Tight race in Ward 4 also. I am happy to see Ben Henderson unofficially take the seat, but I would have liked to see Lewis Cardinal in there too.

Anonymous, if it's the same idiots and it's all a joke to you, why don't you run in 3 years? Let's see what you can do.

I think that the election could of turned out better, I would have liked to have had Mandel out of office.
