Getting the Vote Out

Voter turnout for civic elections tends to be low. About 30% of eligible voters made it to the polls in Vancouver during the last race.

Briana Tomkinson, Anthony Hamilton and Adrian Sinclair are hoping to change that, and they're using some creative tactics.

Briana is with Tenth to the Fraser, a "passionately local blog about life in New Westminster."  They're cohosting Fun and Politics, an all-candidates mixer at Lafflines Comedy Club in New Westminster. Nov. 2, 5:30 - 8 pm.

Anthony Hamilton is with Vancouver Public Space Network. They run the website Vancouver Votes and the Last Candidate Standing debate at Robson Square. Nov 6, 7 - 9 pm

Adrian Sinclair is with Get Your Vote On. They're working to engage younger voters with a series of events, including a voter photobooth (Nov 9 and 19) a Biltmore Caucus Cabaret Debate (Nov 14, 7-  10 pm) , and tandem bike taxi service to the polls on Nov 19.

Briana, Anthony and Adrian joined us this morning at our Civic Cafe.
