Up to 7000 cyclists will ride the third annual GranFondo Whistler this Saturday. That's 122 km up a very hilly highway. We talk to co-founder Kevin Thomson of GranFondo Canada about why these "Big Rides" are gaining momentum in North America.

Musician and lifelong cyclist Barney Bentall will be riding the GrandFondo Whistler for the second time with his friend Jim Cuddy. You can hear more from him this Saturday morning on North By Northwest. Heather Owen recently discovered her passion for cycling will be doing this ride for the third time. She hopes to pedal it with her young daughter one day.

There is still time to register for Saturday's ride.

RBC's Heather Owen was curious about the ride because her employer is the title sponsor. Now she's hooked.
