Randonneuring: The Joy of Long Distance Cycling

Randonneuring is the non-competitive art of long distance cycling. Randonneurs cycle anywhere from 200 to 1400 km along a prescribed route in a specified time. It's not a race, and anyone who finishes is considered a winner.

I met up with Danelle Laidlaw of the BC Randonneurs Cycling Club. She organizes the Pacific Populaire, a fun casual event to kick off the randonneur season. This one is open to the public and includes 25, 50 and 100 km options. Online registration closes today, but you can also register onsite on ride day, April 1.

Below is a picture of Danelle participating in a randonneur event on a tandem bike.
