Uprooted Japanese Canadians: Book Launch
About 4000 Japanese Canadians were sent back to Japan after the War by the Canadian government. A new book chronicles this little known chapter in history. Book launch Saturday May 19, 3-5 pm at the Burnaby Nikkei Centre.

It's Bike to School Week! Parents like Alexa Pitoulis (pictured below with daughter Sophie) from Hastings Elementary are working with organizations like HUB to help create a bike culture that will see more kids taking active transportation to school (and beyond).
Vancouver School Board Trustee Rob Wynen is an avid cyclist and a kinesiologist. He says encouraging more kids to bike can go a long way towards improving health and learning outcomes. Reducing the traffic around schools and introducing cycling education in school can help, according to Wynen.
