Thanks to Colin in the CBC Archives for passing along Imelda May's name - she's becoming quite the popular artist in Europe and I'm sure will slowly take over North America.  She's playing the Burnaby Roots and Blues Festival next weekend, and if you want to hear and see a little more of what she's all about:

Plus there are still two copies of the Locarno CD - thanks to everyone who sent in an email - your names are in the hat, and the winners will be drawn at random on Monday.

Plus a little music from Red Box's debut album The Circle and The Square..

...and it's Father-in-Law Day, as well as Cheesecake Day!  Satchmo (and the Muppets) will do the honours:

Good morning!

The view from Studio 10 this morning - it's going to be too hot for me, but it makes a nice photo.

Ray Lynch's music is perfect for the morning, so I've pulled out an old favourite to start off...

And then some covers!  Kris Delmhorst has released an entire album of covers dedicated to The Cars, and The School have a "Boss" b-side from their new EP.

And sad news that Dan Peek, founding member of America died a few days ago.  Steve in Trail asked for a particular America classic, and we follow it up with a brand new track from America latest covers album Back Pages.

Music to begin the day with Eric Whitacre's moving "Lux Arumque" (you can watch the virtual choir below), and then something from Erin Bode and her band - I've been delving into her past catalog and enjoying it very much.

Plus the Filberg Festival starts this weekend in Comox... many, many great artists there and we heard a tune from one of them: Sue Medley.
