Izaline Calister is a highly talented singer, composer
and lyricist with a distinctive personal musical style.
A charismatic performer, she can be at times warm and
intimate, then expressive and extroverted, as she masterfully
weaves together the traditional music of her native
island, Curaçao (Dutch Caribbean), with Jazz.
Izaline possesses the exceptional gift that makes all
the difference for a soloist, as she sings in her mother
tongue, Papiamentu, with feeling and grace. She has
the remarkable ability to reach out and conquer audiences
world-wide, though she is often singing to them in
an unfamiliar language. Izaline is a true original,
a performer who remains true to her roots and seamlessly
blends the pulsating rhythms of Afro-Antilles music
with Jazz.
Izaline Calister has released two albums, 2000’s
Soño di un muhé (One Woman’s Dream) and Mariposa
(Butterfly) in 2002.
