CBC Radio commissioned 10 composers for the Shostakovich Project. Marilyn Lerner, Michael Oesterle, Douglas Schmidt, Amir Amiri, Richard Moody, Andy Creeggan, Phil Dwyer, Robert M. Lepage, John Korsrud and Jocelyn Morlock all wrote short pieces based on the DSCH theme of Dmitri Shostakovich. The music was performed by the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and the CBC Radio Orchestra and was broadcast on CBC Radio as part of the Shostakovich centenary. The concerts were performed at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Chan Centre in Vancouver. The concert was broadcast later that evening at 8:05 pm on CBC Radio Two's On Stage and on In Performance on Wednesday November 22, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. (8:30 NT).
