The Dragons' Den Effect : Episode Nine

Appearing in the Den has a tendency to change lives - increased sales, new distributors, and emails from across the country. We like to call it "The Dragons' Den Effect." Each week, Dragons' Den producers will follow the successes and track the big news, and give you the inside scoop on what happened to these entrepreneurs after their big debut. This week we checked in some of our hardworking pitchers from Episode Nine.

Sidestix

The Sidestix team of Sarah Doherty and Kerith Perreur-Lloyd have been waiting anxiously to share their deal - so they did! More than 100 friends and family gathered at the Buccaneer Restaurant in Sechelt, BC for a viewing party. The now-famous Sunshine Coasters made the front page of the local paper, and online, the hits for sidestix.com have exploded and they're up to about 700 hits a day now. They made a few significant sales, and they were excited to hear from distributors and manufacturers who watched the show and want to help.

Green Gym

Guy Chaham had to go to Florida for a trade show, so when we contacted him he hadn't even seen the show yet! BUT - he sure saw results: his web traffic was up 564%! Guy's been getting non-stop emails and calls from strangers praising his pitch, and he got a special note from Parks and Recreation Ontario thanking Guy on behalf of the ENTIRE parks industry for promoting parks and recreational services as an integral part of health and wellness.

Cygnet Better Golf System

While viewers have commented on the heartbreaking pitch from the father-daughter duo of Anne and John Cheng - Anne wrote in that "No Publicity is Bad Publicity! Better to have tried and lost than never to have tried at all!" And the whole family is just glad to know that millions of Canadians have now seen their product

Evergreen Memories

Dryden's most famous tree-lovers only got two minutes of air time on Wednesday but they said the aftermath was even more lucrative than the first time they entered the Den! Some perspective? Their sales for December are ten times what they were this time last year, and the spike in web traffic was even higher than when their original pitch aired last March. As a thank you will be "paying it forward" by donating 10% of December's sales to local charities. Margot, Lisa and Merril are thrilled that they get asked often to speak at business events and schools. Margot says it's been an incredible year: "we are inspiring other entrepreneurs, that living in a small town does not mean you have to live a small town life. Dream Big and follow your passion!"
