Nature in Focus Photography Competition
Note: Winners of this year's Nature in Focus competition have now been selected and contacted. Winner, runner-up and finalist photographs will be posted on our website in late April, and winner and runner-up photographs published in the May/June issue of Harrowsmith Country Life Magazine. The Nature of Things with David Suzuki is North America's longest running documentary series – since 1960 it has been exploring and illuminating the natural environment to viewers across the country. As it enters its 49th season, the series continues to further the dialogue on scientific, environmental and technological issues.
Now you are being asked to join us in that dialogue – the 5th annual Nature in Focus photography competition is now open! Amateur photographers are invited to submit their photographs, to one or more of the categories below.
Your Habitat
Urban, rural, jungle, or sanctuary. Envision your place in Nature.
Sacred Species
Rekindle your connection to the variety and splendour of Earth's creatures.
Acts of Nature
Capture nature in action, in all of its beauty, chaos and grace.
Prizes
Win a vacation for two to historic Québec City! The winner and a guest will be flown courtesy of Air Canada and enjoy three nights accommodation at the Auberge Saint-Antoine, including complimentary breakfasts, a meal for two in one of the city's many fine restaurants, museum passes, and a tour of Québec City and the Beaupré Coast.
Other prizes include Nikon digital cameras and subscriptions to Harrowsmith Country Life Magazine. Winners will be published in the May/June 2009 issue.

Special Guest Judge: Roberta Bondar
Just announced: This year's special guest judge will be Roberta Bondar. Canada's first female astronaut, Roberta is also an environmentalist and acclaimed photographer, with several best-selling photographic essay books to her credit. See some of her photographs.
