This spring, CBC and Radio-Canada are broad-casting a six-part television series called Love, Hate, and Propaganda: World War Two for a New Generation.
It's a look at how the world went mad, and how propaganda campaigns in that era sometimes awakened powerful passions - love, betrayal, devotion, and hatred. In that time of war, many of the messages were negative. But propaganda can be a force for good as well. That's where you come in

We are challenging secondary and post-secondary students to be our new message makers. Choose a cause, perhaps one that is near and dear to your heart, like animal rights, or better food in the school cafeteria, or perhaps global warming or protecting the environment. And then create your own persuasive pitch, your own 'propaganda campaign'.
This contest is now closed. Thanks for participating!
The contest is open to secondary & post-secondary students in the following age groups:
14-17 years of age.
Poster or video category.
18 years of age & over.
Poster or video category.
Your poster or video can include a slogan or a catchy phrase but it does not necessarily have to. The important thing is that it conveys a message. You can use photos, moving images, graphics, illustrations, sounds, and music to support your message but only if you have created them.
No group submissions please, just individual entries, a maximum of one entry per category. No offensive language or art will be accepted. Anything that promotes hatred towards groups of people will not be accepted. CBC/ Radio-Canada reserves the right to make this judgment. All decisions are final.
You can upload your posters and videos to us online, or you can stick them in the envelope and mail them the old-fashioned way!
Show us how talented you are in the art of persuasion...convince us and you can win great prizes!
Most of the entries will be seen by a group of specially chosen jurors, appointed by CBC and Radio Canada. They will select winners for both the poster and video category within each age group.
4 lucky students will get a $1,000 gift certificate to a major retail and on-line bookstore. Runners up will also receive gift certificates of $250.00 and $100.00. In addition, we'll be posting some of the most original entries on our website for everyone to see.
