LAST BANNOCK STANDING
Part documentary and part reality show, Last Bannock Standing tells the story of a Regina-based, aboriginal comedy troupe in search of a new member.
The Bionic Bannock Boys, Cory Generoux, Preston Lacaine and Keon Francis are the biggest thing to hit aboriginal comedy on the prairies since the signing of the treaties. Their sketch/improv comedy performances target racism and stereotypes by poking fun at aboriginals and whites alike. The Bionic Bannock Boys have been writing and performing together for the past seven years. During that time they’ve seen many members come and go. But, when they found themselves down to three they decided to audition for the ‘funniest Indian out there.’
Join them on their hilarious journey through open auditions, to the crowning of a winner, then on to the stage debut of the Last Bannock Standing. And go backstage to meet the Bionic Bannock Boys and find out how comedy helped them through their struggles and triumphs as they grew up aboriginal in a predominantly white world.
Their struggle now is to get to the next stage in their comedy careers, and they pin their hopes a new fourth member. But the story doesn’t end quite the way they planned.
Last Bannock Standing was produced for CBC Television in Saskatchewan by Paul Dederick. Aldo Columpsi was the videographer and Brad LeClair was the editor.
