I have e-mailed the RCMP in BC but was told that if a person doesn't want to be found it's up to them.. He didn't keep in touch a lot but we certainly would have heard from him by now. He had been in a high risk category in years prior and I believe after his divorce shortly before he disappeared he may have fallen back into this lifestyle. I feel that something bad happened to him. But short of hiring a private detective there is not much one can do from the other side of the country. Who knows some of these remains may be my missing brother but how do you get the authorities to help you??? |

I don't think that foul play can be completely eliminated - there have been mass body findings before that did not show evidence of being "sawed". I wondered if there was a commom area where these people committed suicide. I have found it interesting that all of the limbs recovered have been wearing runners. Perhaps a disaster involving a group of people has not yet been traced. |

I also have great interest in case, as do many. After watching the documentary "Mystery of the Floating Feet", I have the impression that there is very little energy directed toward the possibilty that these feet are from victims of suicide. I feel that some thought about this has been generated, but not nearly enough..... more thought needs to be invested in this possibility. It is very common for suicidal individuals to choose jumping from bridges. Please see the online Wikipedia information by googling "suicide bridge". There are numerous examples listed. Other evidence supports this theory. For example, the one victim that was identified was also known to be emotionally disturbed. Furthermore, the victims are all wearing sneakers. One would be unlikely to prepare to walk to and climb a bridge, or similar structure, with any other type of footwear. You must realize that this kind of suicide is often well planned and thought out. Furthermore, it is common for these individuals to walk very long distances to get to the bridge, or jumping point, of choice. Sneakers would be the most likely shoe to use. Also, in support of this theory, I find it interesting that the one victim who was identified was only identified by way of a lucky recognition of the sneaker by a relative. This, to me, suggests that there is not enough DNA evidence on file to identify these victims through DNA technology first (i.e. linking the feet DNA with DNA of missing persons on file). The data bank seems insufficient. This was noted in the documentary. Maybe they will get lucky.....but likely not unless the candidates are narrowed greatly....or using other critieria. In line with the suicide theory, narrowing the potential candidates should consider characteristics such as depressed individuals with histories of depression, possibly with histories of suicide attempts, but having sufficient physical conditions to walk to and climb a structure. They may have also experienced sudden loss and / great hoplessness. Also, what is the demographic data associated with illegal immigrants and suicide in Canada? Is the DNA sufficient to determine racial identities of these victims? Do the racial demographics of the feet link to racial demographics of illegal immigrants? As the documentary noted, maybe these are illegal immigrants. If so, we may never identify the victims. The research on the bodies seems clear. These feet were not sawed from their bodies. It seems fairly certain that they have separated as a natural part of the decomposition process, while the bodies are decomposed. I feel that people and media are distracted by how strange it is to have feet floating around and washing up on shores around BC and the USA, fueling unlikely theories and pointing investigations in the wrong direction. Let's forget about crashing planes etc.....!! Where is the jumping point? Is there a brige or bridges or other structure up river that would serve as sufficient jumping points for victims of suicide? Please comment. |

Jody Vincent Harpell wrote: | Adding to my earlier posting....I also wonder if there has been a bridge, or similar structure, built within the last ten years. This would explain why the feet have been washing ashore only in recent years. |
Jody Harpell wrote: | Adding to Hung Khuu's comment....... Maybe DNA could categorize the feet by the same cultural demographic. |

David Donaghy wrote: | According to the Documentary the RCMP have ruled out foul play. How can they possibly rule this out based on the remains they have. For all anyone knows, the rest of the body is riddled with bullet holes, weighted with cinderblocks and resting at the bottom of the Fraser somewhere. Sure, the foot may have detached through natural means, but that says nothing about what happened to the rest of the body. |

We are certainly keenly aware of this mystery out on the East coast and we have yet to report our first sneakered foot! Sable Island for instance has everything imaginable show up on its shores, but as far as I am aware-no feet yet. |

Has their dna been checke against that of passengers on China Airlines Flight #: 611? The flight crashed into the sea, 31 miles NE of the Penghu in the Taiwan Strait. 25, 2002 with 225 fatalities |

I believe that First Nations Indian Bands should be notified on this investigation and/or notice send to family of victims if they wanted to give DNA sample. Also, giving the foot size, when and where it was found...etc. |
