I ride my bicycle as much as possible in Vancouver, rain or shine. And I have joked for years that when I get on the thing, I feel 10 years younger .... and at 72 that's very useful.

I'm all in favour of people using bicyles, not cars, in bicycle lanes and all of that. However, my major gripe as a motorist is that we, as motorists are obligated to treat bicycles like any other vehicle. However, cyclists seldom follow the rules for correct cycling: signalling, not riding on sidewalks, approaching 4-way stops as a vehicle that must wait it's turn, and stopping at lights. If drivers hit cyclists we can be charged, but if cyclists hog the road, do not heed the rules and become the CAUSE of accidents, they are not fined. It is not reasonable for cyclists to expect special consideration if they, on the whole, ride irresponsibly. This is the other side of the argument for/against cyclists.

Nicely produced documentary, it's a welcome treat to see the range of bike infrastructure being built by world-class cities.

I would have enjoyed more bike-cam footage, it's hard to convey the experience of bike riding in Canadian cities to those that haven't tried it.
