Everything's Cool

September 11, 2007 11:18 AM

EVERYTHING'S COOL is a "toxic comedy" about the most dangerous chasm ever to emerge between scientific understanding and political action - Global Warming.

The good news: America finally gets global warming; the chasm is closing and the debate is over. The bad news: the United States, the country that will determine the fate of the globe, must transform its fossil fuel based economy fast, (like in a minute).

Tell us what you thought about this film.

OK, CBC. Rather than running yet another documentary professing the idea that the only people who debate anything in science are crackpot stooges, how about a documentary that actually educates people about climate change science and policy.

Yes, it's happening. Yes, it's caused by humans. Yes, it's worth slowing. But did this documentary actually explain that. Nope. All it did was provide more soap opera science; focusing more on the people behind the facts rather than the facts themselves.

How about a documentary on taxes vs regulations? Costs vs benefits? Domestic vs. international action?

I know, I know: that would be challenging. Uninformative Soap Opera science is much easier....might as we'll just keep doing that, eh?

A well made and important documentary. Thank you CBC for airing this and other excellent films on a regular basis.

I'm sure I'm like a lot of people out there when I say that when it comes to the issues about Global Warming we tend to believe what we hear by these "so called" experts.

The problem then becomes when experts start disproving each others theories or scientic results, this leads to what I think is information over-load. I believe that this is no accident, and for the longest time the nonconformists out weighed the commited environmentalists.

I certainly hope this environmental trend with the Hollywood twist isn't just a passing fad only to be replaced by the next blockbuster hit.

Yet another doc about how the governments of the richest nations are putting greed ahead of the survival of this planet, mankind and animal alike.

How dare we pussyfoot around with the most monumental catastrophe this planet has ever seen. What is wrong with us that we allow the politicians to dictate the futures of our children. We all want action not more debates. We need to find a way to make the politicians understand that we have had enough of their gibberish,we have a voice, we have to find a way to make it heard.

I for one am sick of the stall tactics,i think we are all seeing it for what it is. Now they are lining up at the Arctic with their tongues hanging out drooling over the riches to be mined in our last pristine enviornment thay can't even wait till the ice melts.SICK

This is a fantastic show, I'm watching it right now thinking "Peter, I wish there was something I could be doing right now to get this shown at some time other than 11pm-1am on a sunday night". Is it just me or should this be shown during some real prime time? All sorts of honest people/politicians need to see this and wake up to the truth about global warming.

Another excellent documentary. Now if only all of us who believe the message will only act and lead by example.
