Sept. 12/08: My date with Shane Yellowbird

Hi. This is Kim and I am one of the associate producers for DNTO.

So this is very exciting! Not only do I get to do the blog for DNTO this week…but I get to write about the adorable Shane Yellowbird who has these amazing cheek dimples! Who is that? You ask. Well he is one of the hottest rising stars in the country music biz, that according to me! Okay and others like the Canadian Country Music Awards, the Junos, the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards and the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Awards…all of which he has been nominated in and/or won.

Anyways, Shane was in Winnipeg recently for the Canadian Country Music Awards and he popped by the DNTO Winnipeg studio. But he wasn’t the only one who stopped by. It seems Shane has a little following here at the CBC. That’s right a couple of the CBC staff hung around outside the studio waiting for Shane to finish talking to Sook-Yin. These two women acted like giggling school girls when he came out of the studio. I think he was a bit surprised to find them…okay us…waiting for him. Now usually we’re pretty professional here at DNTO but there is just something about Shane that made me call my co-workers and tell them to come down to see him up close and personal. He was very gracious and posed for photos and signed a DNTO t-shirt! I really want to keep it for myself but I will give it up for one lucky DNTO listener. That’s right Sook-Yin will give it away to someone next week when we have Shane as our musical guest!

Besides hanging out with the cute and the famous, we’ve been hard at work on new shows for you. In the coming weeks we’re going to have Ron Sexsmith, Matt Mays and Wendy McNeil as our musical guests. We’re also looking at getting Derek Miller. If you have any suggestions we’d love to hear from you, drop us a line. The only requirement is he has to have dimples that could store oceans. Just kidding.
