How secure are police evidence lockers?

People in Merritt are shocked after that town's top cop was charged with stealing and using cocaine from its evidence room.

Staff Sgt Stuart Seib has been charged with theft.

The 18-year RCMP veteran may also face additional charges. RCMP say Seib disclosed his actions to another officer, and officers are now going over the cases Seib handled at the detachment.

So what checks and balances are in place when it comes to goods seized by police?   

To answer that question, Daybreak host Chris Walker spoke with Rob Creaser, a retired RCMP officer and Vice President of the B.C. Mounted Police Professional Association.
