Behind the veil: explaining the niqab
The federal government has announced changes to the way new Canadians take the oath of citizenship. From now on, no one is allowed to take the oath while wearing any kind of face covering.
The new rule primarily effects Muslim women who choose to veil their faces.
To get a better understanding of this 'veiled' world of the burqa, niqub and hijab Daybreak host Chris Walker spoke with Jasmine Zine, associate professor of sociology at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo.
