Southern Okangan Secondary School burns

The South Okanagan Secondary school in Oliver is burning. The fire department says they were called just after 2 o'clock this morning, and the building is heavily involved.

The town's former fire chief, Richard Simmons, says there are upwards of 30 fire fighters involved in trying to put the blaze down. Fire departments from Okanagan Falls and Keremeos have joined in the effort.

There's no word yet on the extent of the damage... but some reports say the building may be gutted.

Daybreak's Chris Walker spoke with Oliver Mayor Pat Hampson, and School District Superintendent Bev Young Monday morning.
